Description

A glass matcha bowl (chawan) for refreshing summer tea sessions. This bowl has been handcrafted using a spinning technique by skilled artisans in Aomori, Japan. Our glass matcha bowl features a wide mouth to help tea cool down, making it the perfect bowl for summer. The clear glass gives the impression of water and provides a feeling of coolness.

About the Craft/Artisan

This artisan has been offering high-quality glass products since its establishment in 1819. They began making floating bowls for fishing. The bowls were strong and far superior to anything else on the market at the time. Using the techniques developed while making fishing bowls, they started crafting tableware and other glass items. Their handcrafted glassware portrays the ever-changing scenery of mother nature (especially of Aomori Prefecture, Japan). To make each piece, glass is heated to a scorching red 1,500 degrees, grasped by the blow rod and carefully hand-finished.

Care Instructions

Handwash with warm water.
