This organic gyokuro is carefully crafted in Uji, Japan. Tea trees are shaded for 28 days before harvesting the finest leaves. The shading process increases levels of amino acid theanine and alkaloid caffeine. This yields a complex sweet and savoury flavour profile. Our organic gyokuro is a blend of Gokou & Ujimidori cultivars. We recommend drinking this tea from morning to early afternoon. You can brew this tea multiple times – increase the water temperature for each steeping to experience a changing flavour profile. A tea that keeps on giving: you can eat the leaves after brewing. The tea leaves make a nutritious topping for rice (add some soy sauce and sesame seeds) or in salads.

We pack all of our tea in home compostable pouches. This packaging has been purpose-designed to provide a high-barrier storage solution. Our pouches protect the tea from light, oxygen and moisture to keep it fresh from the farm to your tea space. You can conveniently re-seal the pouch after first use. We make our tea labels with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper, food-grade glue and non-toxic ink. The labels are produced in an Australian solar-powered facility with minimal water consumption.
